An impactful evening with Uche Pedro, Kemi Adetiba, Arese Ugwu, Ada Osakwe & more at the Hugo Boss “BOSS The Scent for Her” launch

Over the weekend, Hugo Boss celebrated the launch of their new fragrance for women ‘BOSS The Scent for Her’ at a private dinner at the George Hotel.

The launch honoured 10 women from different fields, who are making a huge impact in Nigeria and Africa as a whole. The women included:

Kemi Adetiba, award winning director, producer and cinematographer, whose works have appeared on many renowned media platforms around the world.   

Toju Foyeh, fashion entrepreneur and designer with a brand fast becoming one of the favorites amongst African Women.

Loiusa Kinoshi, beauty Entrepreneur and Founder of Beauty Revolution NG, which aims to revolutionize the beauty shopping experience in Africa. Through her platform she seeks to put brands that cater to the needs of African women in its clients’ hands at the click of a button. Also providing an online space for African beauty enthusiasts to gather and learn from each other.

Dr. Ola Orekunrin, medical doctor, helicopter pilot and founder of Flying Doctors Nigeria, West Africa’s first Air Ambulance Service. She’s dedicated to bringing trauma care to the most remote parts of Western Africa and improving the healthcare system in Nigeria and  Africa as a whole.  

Uche Pedro, social media expert and founder of Bella Naija, an online media platform that develops and delivers exciting online content. Bella Naija is the go-to lifestyle and entertainment portal in Africa aimed at Nigerians and Pan-African audiences. Uche is also the founder of Founders Creative sits on the board of LEAP AFRICA.

Denrele Sonariwo, curator and Founder of Rele Art Gallery. Rele gallery aims to offer first-rate art for public consumption, inspiring artists to showcase their art and exposing the global audience to African contemporary art.

Arese Ugwu, founder of smartmoneyafrica.org a personal finance platform for African millennials. She is also the author of ‘The Smart Money Woman, An African girls journey to financial freedom”, which is aimed at helping as many people as possible especially women to break through the ceiling of financial limitations.

Arese promotes financial literacy in Africa through speaking engagements, workshops and personal financial shows on Ndani TV and Guardian TV.

Ada Osakwe, founder of Agrolay Ventures, an investment firm dedicated to growing the agricultural and food sector in Africa. Agrolay Ventures is an investor in early-stage agribusiness and food-related businesses including The Nuli Juice Company, Agroblend Foods, Nature’s Bounty and Africa Courier Express.

Abisoye Ajayi Akinfolarin, proprietor at GirlsCoding. An intensive program for equipping young girls between 10-17years of age with information technology skills such as;  programming, animation, raspberry pi and user interface design. Abisoye reached far beyond into the slums of Makoko and selected orphanages in Lagos to bring education and the knowledge of technology to the girls in those communities.

Jennifer Obayuwana, Executive Director of Polo luxury Group, Nigeria’s leading luxury goods company. Polo is Nigeria’s only official retailer for the world’s prestigious and luxury high end accessories. Jennifer’s experience in building and maintaining luxury brand prestige has led to the creation of Polo’s subsidiary, Polo Avenue – a multi brand luxury retailer, with strategic partners including; Gucci, Dolce & Gabbana, Balenciaga, Jimmy Choo, Versace and the likes.

It was a fun and exciting night as the 10 women engaged in enlightening conversations and shared personal experiences about how they began, the challenges they face and how they continue to excel in their chosen fields.

The event was hosted by Mercy Ajisafe, Jane Micheal gave a talk on femininity, as she explained the placement of the mannequins. The white suit represented the tenderness of a woman and the black represented a powerful woman – thus, a woman can be whatever she wants to be.  Both tender and strong, which all the women fully represent.

Guests were treated to a three course dinner and were serenaded with beautiful soulful jazz music by Ugonna Ucheagwu .
