All The Fun From Nigerian Student Fashion And Design Week 2015

The highly anticipated Winasbet Nigerian Student Fashion And Design Week 2015 has come and gone but the memories from the fashion weekwill not be forgotten anytime soon. The event is gradually becomingone of the biggest fashion events in Nigeria. NSFDW took place at theUniversity of Lagos on the 17th and 18th of July 2015 and it had animpressive turn out of celebrities, fashionistas, students, buyers andthe press.

Guest Judges Kola Kuddus, Ejiro Amos-Tafiri, Tewa Onasanya and OnomeFasan were present to select the most creative designers. 15Universities were represented at this year’s edition.

Day One July 17th (Host- Saygee And Yemi Akamo)

Oyinyechi Amadi-Thompson the creative director of St O’MaaN anundergraduate student of Wisconsin Intl University Ghana opened theshow at about 7pm. The other designers were Olorie Martins (BabcockUniversity), Bibilawrence (Yabatech), Layolooks (TolumiFashionPeople), Morafa (University of Lagos), Joymarie (National OpenUniversity of Nigeria), House of Annie Oti (Obafemi AwolowoUniversity), T.I.O Clothings (University of Lagos) and Shirley Swiss(National Open University of Nigeria).

Day Two July 18th (Host- Saygee, Yemi Akamo, Skillz Unilag FM andAriyike Akinbobola Spice Tv)

The 2nd day opened with a pre gala show at 6:00pm with host Saygee andYemi Akamo. Oluwafolakemi Aigbirior creative director of Fowal flair,Alumna of the Obafemi Awolowo University opened the show with her”Elegel” collection, other designers were Omidan by Enitan (Babcock University), Love’N’Saints Fashion House (Obafemi Awolowo University), Cy’s FitsCouture (University of Technology Adamawa), ShidarlbyDq (University ofLagos), Theresa Reebs (Obafemi Awolowo University) and ObeampehCouture (University of Ghana) closed the show.

The Gala show started at about 8pm with Onomene Couture (CovenantUniversity), opening the show with her “Spot Light” collection. Followed were designs from Mesoben (Image Plus Design And FashionSchool), Afrik Abaya (Bayero University Kano) O’khiemms Couture (Lagos State School of Nursing), Kidwit (University of Sheffield),Bloke Oluwajimi (University of Agriculture Abeokuta), Brandelle(Igbenedion University), AZARIEL (University of Lagos), Precious EyeFashion (Lagos State University), Conae Insignia (Bells University)and Oza Couture (Babcock University).

The judges announced Hauwa Liman of AFRIK ABAYA from Bayero UniversityKano as the Most creative designer, the 1st runner up was Joymary Okafor of JOYMARIE from National Open University Nigeria & the 2ndrunner up was Seun Morafa of M O R A F A from the University of Lagos.

The Winner will have the platform to showcase at the Africa FashionWeek Nigeria 2016 with her showcase fee fully sponsored by AFWN. Thetop 3 designers will also enjoy massive publicity through NSFDW media networks.

In a brief chat with Mr Ololade Soyemi Business Analyst & Development Manager of Winasbet Nigeria, he said “Life is a rare opportunity tomake your mark andcreate your own history by accomplishing real deeds in the face of impediments. Winasbet as lead/headline sponsor of NSFDW in the last 3years concurrently was glad to be part of the winning initiativeaimed at driving youth and graduate entrepreneur development acrosstertiary institution in Nigeria.
