Review: Queen Helene’s Mint Julep Masque is well worth the hype

I’m new to face masks and Queen Helene’s Mint Julep Masque was my first try at it. I had always avoided face masks in the past, because I felt they left your skin a little dried out after you took it off. The main reason I bought the face mask, was because I had read raving reviews about it, and I had used Queen Helene’s Cocoa Butter scrub at some point and loved it, so I figured it wouldn’t hurt to try the mask. Every glowing review this product has ever gotten is pretty well deserved.

I have used the mask every other day for two straight weeks, and I don’t see myself stopping anytime soon. The instructions on the tube of the mask advise you to leave it on for about 10 minutes before washing it off. On the first day I left it on for about thirty and felt a little irritation. I stayed compliant to the product’s instructions after that day, and didn’t experience the irritation ever again.

The mask is supposed to clear up pimples and blackheads. While I can’t testify to how well it works on pimples, it did clear up my blackheads considerably by the end of the first week. The mask has a nice smooth consistency that allows you, use your fingers to smear it all over your face easily. It’s also really thick, so you don’t need a whole lot to cover your whole face. The mask does a pretty good job, at sucking out your blackheads and the dirt in your pores making them appear smaller. I did feel like my face was a little dried out, after using it so I recommend using a good moisturizer after.

If you have very dry skin. I won’t recommend that you use this mask, as it is actually rather drying. It also has a very strong minty smell, that could be overwhelming for people who  usually prefer scentless products. Overall, I would still give it a 99.
