8 years & 2 hearts | Read Ifedayo and Pelumi’s love story (Wedding photos)

Ifedayo Adu and Pelumi Akinbodewa have released their love story and wedding introduction photos with us.

They met about eight years ago in the university and they’ve been best of friends since then and so fond of each other.

HOW WE MET: It all started in the year 2006. I gained admission into University of Ado Ekiti for Pre-degree.
I was staying in Omolayo Hostel with my Aunties; Oluwatotan Olaniyi (Now Mrs Abejide), Titilayo Adeoba (now Mrs Ogunsanmi), Tolulope Adeoba (now Mrs Adebayo)

They were Angels sent to me by God to see me through my days as a “Fresher”.
My Fiancé Oluwapelumi Akinbodewa happens to be their Best Friend. They were always talking about him, calling him to ask when he is going to resume school for their last session. I kept wondering who this “Famous Pelumi” could be. They always talk about how funny and naughty he is and how much they miss his troublesome nature.
Immediately after he had dropped his luggage in his room, I guess he headed straight to our room in Block A, without notice (he is so full of surprises). I happened to be the only one in the room. I opened the door for the love of my life. I didn’t have to look at him twice; I knew it was him immediately. He was wearing a Top with the name tag “DMI PELUMI 001” on it. I asked him to come in.

We talked for about 30 minutes and believe me, it felt as if we had known each other for ages. It was like magic. One of my Aunties, Oluwatotan Abejide came in and we stopped our discussion abruptly. Am sure she didn’t notice we had been talking. Trust me, we continued our discussion later. #winks. Our Hearts just connected in a moment. It was Magical. He became my Best Friend from then up till now. I started calling him my School Father

HOW AND WHEN WE STARTED DATING.
I kept calling him my School Father for about four months. He started asking me out during the Christmas holiday. I accepted his proposal on his Birthday 17th of March 2007.
It was one of the best decisions I have ever made in my life. During the course of the relationship, we had our ups and downs, but we were both determined to make it work. He graduated that year while I started my law degree. We never got tired of each other. The distance between us was never an issue. We could use our last kobo to buy credit to call each other. We know each other like the back of our hands.
He is one of the few God fearing, Honest, Faithful, Caring, Romantic, Funny, Humble, Hardworking, Troublesome, Playful, Determined and Prayerful Men on Earth. He never gives up, never loses hope in himself or others. His belief and Faith in God is so strong.
He treats me like a Queen that I am. He calls me OloriAdeyinka, Soul Tattoo, Ifeokanmi…amongst others.
I am getting Married to you in the next few days because I know you are my missing rib (Genesis 2:23-24)
(22. And the rib, which the LORD God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man.
23. And Adam said This [is] now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman because she was taken out of Man.)
I believe that together we will make heaven along with our unborn Children. I love you so much Oluwapelumi and forever I do.

How I met her
The magic of purpose and of love in its purest form. Not television love, with its glare and hollow and sequined glint; not sex and allure, all high shoes and high drama, everything both too small and in too much excess, but just love. Love like rain, like the smell of a tangerine, like a surprise found in your pocket. This journey started in the year 2006 when I resumed my last year with full energy, brightness and great accomplishments, ready to crown my grades with distinctions and handover as the president of the most prestigious dance school on campus (D.M.I). My buddies Alex, Martins, Uche, OC, Ogani and Soft already gave me a gist of this beautiful fresher that just came, and that she was like the dream of them guys. Not really paying too much attention to them, was much more looking forward to  meeting my admirers. I dropped my baggage and head straight to the female hostel (Block A), Omolayo residence, University of Ado, Nigeria. Was going to meet my admirable friends Tolu, Titi and Totan. Getting to the room, lo and behold, it was a pure Jewel that came to open the door, I won’t forget that day, and remember that our brightest blazes of gladness are commonly kindled by unexpected sparks, that was it guys; there was a spark in my heart that keeps sparking till this moment. I was staring into her eyes, I couldn’t take away my eyes and her eyes was also fixed on mine, it was silent but the communication was far beyond the moment, I loved her from the first time I saw her, so pure, so unique, so different, so natural, so happy, so true, so smiley, so…. everything I’ve dreamt of. We started relating like we’ve met in the world before now and there was just so much we were talking about on a first day, and whenever someone enters the room, we keep quiet like we aren’t talking and we smiled and continued whenever they are gone. The feeling was so strong and intense right from the first moment and my visit to Block A, of course, became frequent like never.

IN THE BEGINNING
Romans 8:31 “What shall we say about such wonderful things as these? If God is for us, who can ever be against us?”
The friendship became more real and true even as I took her as my school daughter ….lolzzz. I could still remember my roommate (Alex) waking me up from the bed saying…’hey, school father, your daughter is here, I feel so much responsible for guiding her while I’m still around and lead her on same success path I trend. At the same time, I was a loner, it’s been a while I shared my heart with anyone else, was more focused on my academics and dance ministry. But as days pass by, hmm… guys …it happens that I couldn’t hide the feelings, really I knew it was real and true, I had met prospects all over but there was none compare to my school daughter , so I thought within myself if I lose her, I’ll never forgive myself, I had to open up, however, she has been waiting for me to talk, she made great sacrifices for me just to talk and I did talk, expressed my feelings, I could remember, we were sitting at the potter’s lodge of Block A downstairs, and while I was talking, her head was leaned on my shoulder and here and there came the very first kiss…lolzzzz! After that guys, things took a different shape, the school father thingy stopped, the care, concern, attention increased and my buddies were kinda…..ooooohkay, hey, what’s going on? But she does her things quite unique and once it’s what she wants, you can’t stop her.

Although the kiss on that faithful day would have suggested a yes, but Nah….she has a different package for me “The secret to humor is surprise”. At this time it was close to my birthday and my buddies decided to throw a party since we’ll be graduating that semester, still acting like a loner, I was called out for a dance, came out alone, doing what I know how to do best, here comes the surprise of the day, she stood up, walk straight into me and gave a YES KISS. And she whispered into my ears “I have loved you from the beginning, I love you now and I’ll love you forever OLUWAPELUMI”. Guyz….There is no surprise more magical than the surprise of being truly loved. I was frozen and extremely fulfilled, I had a highly desirable malfunction of my heart which weakens my brain, causes my eyes to sparkle, my cheeks to glow, blood pressure to rise and the lips to pucker. Guys, truthfully speaking, our vision will become clear only when we can look into our own heart. Who looks outside dreams; who looks inside, awakens. It was all a dream, but on that day March 17th, 2007, I was awoken. I started calling her “Suregirl” from that day. However, intermittently when fears and trials crawl in, the word of God in Isaiah 41:10 “So do not fear, for I am with you
do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand” kept me going. Love depends upon the capacity to reach beneath the surface of persons, to feel and touch the seed of life that is hidden there. And love becomes a power when it is capable of evoking that seed and drawing it forth from its hiding place. I experienced everything with my God’s given gift, I drew the seed, I sure do. Her pet name transformed over the years and at the moment, she’s my SOULTATOO….
