One of the many reinventions that Pharrell Williams (producer and longtime member of alt music bands, The Neptunes and N.E.R.D ) has easily pulled out of his hat is fashion design. Already running alt fashion brands, Billionaire Boys Club and the recently acquired G Star Raw, Pharrell has also entered a long term collaborations with athleisure/sportswear giant Adidas. One of the projects they have collaborated on just got released on the 12th of May, a collection of surf and sun inspired swim wear themed ‘Pink Beach’.
Pink Beach sees Pharrell take his floral themes which made his collection of sneakers with Adidas so popular and transmute them on to Summer, a collection that comprises of swim suits and trunks, Havana shirts and accessories. Of course it is still an Adidas collaboration so the collection is bent towards the sporty aesthetic, but the Adidas x Pharrell’s Pink Beach collection is also quite savvy and softened significantly that it doesn’t feel like thinly disguised sportswear.
With floral applique, reworked jersey bikinis and piped shorts, a water resistant poncho and chiffon kimonos, Pharrell’s Pink Beach is already the look for the hot summer days. All we need is a straw hat and a mojito and we’re lit!
