DPiper Twins put out their new collection just in time for NYFW

Chantelle and Danielle Dwomoh-Piper, creative directors of the DPiper Twins design label are one of Ghana’s biggest fashion exports, gaining an international client base and critical acclaim for their print and stripe heavy collections full of voluminous pieces and fun flirty looks geared towards carefree black women. The brand has just released campaign images for the Spring 17 cycle (and NYFW) and while they are gorgeous, they are also very indicative of the well worn D’Piper aesthetic.

The brand returns to familiar haunts, relying heavily on stripes and hyper pigmented checkered prints par the usual and works them into familiar silhouettes, the same collection of belted crop tops, flouncy blouses and wide leg pants that are the hallmark of the DPiper brand has brought them many of the loyal client base. It is also the label’s safest collection colour wise, with only a handful of signature pieces having the DPiper signature explosions of colour. But this collection also speaks to how well Chantelle and Danielle have translated their persona aesthetics into a marketable brand. It might just be time for them to cater to a larger, less homogeneous crowd with the kind of spending power that their talents deserve.
