Knits and fur for Tokyo James’s Fall 16 ‘Freedom’

What does Freedom mean to you?

Tokyo James’s Fall 16 collection which debuted at the South Africa Menswear week seeks to answer that question. With baggy silhouettes, explosions of colour, fur and knits, the collection is at once polarizing and interesting. We spoke at length about our thoughts on the collection in our review (which you can find here), and hoped to see the collection, shot artistically under the designer’s own vision and direction to get a proper grasp of how ideally, the designer would want the collection to be worn.

The look book doesn’t answer many of our questions. It actually does raise a few new ones. The red baggy trousers and shirt co-ords set seem cut for a man at least three sizes bigger than the model that was was used, they have to belted to stay in place. We do believe it is possible to do volume while still maintaining a fit and proportion.

Our love continues to endure for the Tokyo James jackets this season, they’re glorious and we hope he really does make our day and design a capsule collection or something entire of Tokyo James jackets. Now that would be something.
