Purple Lagos, a bespoke brand owned and run by Betty Oyinda Lewis is segueing into Ready To Wear with a look book and a stocking deal with retailer Zazaii. The pieces come to take the niche formerly occupied by british based vintage label Virgo’s Lounge, with heavily embroidered cocktail dresses, shift dresses, beaded skirts and embellished wrap blouses. The eleven piece collection is timely, with pieces that will transition from day to evening wear and enough glam pieces to help anyone stand out at Christmas and New Year shindigs.
The model drowns under the glamour of the clothes and of course there is the concern that Purple Lagos will make the same mistakes Virgo’s Lounge did in their earlier seasons by making dresses that are too heavy to wear for too long. For a first outing in R.T.W, Purple Lagos seems to have its target demographic perfectly in its sights.
