Ever wanted to pick Denola Adepetun’s brain, about his personal style perhaps? Or maybe Zina Anumundu about working as a PR girl for successful brands like Shop Maju and Style Vitae? Or maybe you’ve wanted to ask Oge Agu how she transformed Kamdora from relatively unknown new comer to one of the top 20 lifestyle websites in Nigeria? Well you just might get your chance. The View Lifestyle Magazine in collaboration with a host of other sponsors is feting all three fashion personalities to an evening out.
On the 6th of March, Samantha’s bistro in Ikoyi open its doors to these celebrities hosted by Yetty D, fashion designer and PR consultant. Bloggers, fashion insiders and fans can mingle and network with them.
Aside Oge Agu who actually runs a blog, it is a bit of a stretch to suggest that Zina Anumundu and Denola Grey are bloggers. Even they don’t refer to themselves as bloggers or run viable blogs that are primarily focused on fashion journalism and its accoutrements.
So while this is a great fashion event, it is at the same time, an indication of the lack of perspective that plagues the Nigerian fashion industry. It would be far more amazing if these fashion professionals were celebrated for the work they’re actually doing as opposed to a PR boost.
We need to do better.
