Vlisco collaborates with Ghanaian designers

Vlisco has had quite the presence in Ghana, sponsoring the Glitz Africa Fashion Week and being instrumental in advancing the career of  one of our favorite designers Papa Oppong. The premium Dutch wax manufacturer is continuing its tradition of advancing fashion in Ghana through a series of collaborations with visionary Ghanaian designers. The brand will collaborate with four designers to create four capsule collections made from specific Vlisco designs.

Already the first collaboration has already been completed by Ghanaian luxury women’s wear label, Stylista. The label based in Accra created 20 designs made from Vlisco’s recently released fabric swatch ‘Woven Wisdom’.


From the designs we’ve seen from Stylista, these collaborations are going to be a very interesting part of 2016, and as the designs are showcased at Vlisco’s flagship store in Accra, the designers will be able to retail to a wider market than they would otherwise reach. The three remaining collaborations will be announced with each of the remaining quarters of the year featuring top tier designers.

We need more of these kind of collaborations in Nigeria, mutually beneficial partnerships that give a bigger platform to designers while celebrating the contributions of international fabric manufacturers like Vlisco.
