We might be late to the party, but Bfyne’s print swimsuits are lit

Hard to believe that for a continent that is sunny all year round, we don’t have as many fashion forward options for swimwear with affordable price points. It’s almost ridiculous to think that before 2011, one would have been hard pressed to find affordable swimsuits that reflect contemporary African tastes.

Well, thankfully those dark, dark ages are well behind us with the advent of labels like Andreah Iyamah swim, Kamokini and Ayanah Swimwear. And just when we thought we’d seen all we could as regards African inspired and owned swimwear, Bfyne comes right up and blows our minds.

Working out of Virginia in the USA and totally Nigerian owned (what could be more Nigerian than being called Buki Fyne Babe?) Bfyne’s modern swimwear takes Africa with it, using African inspired print wax motifs for its water proof suits. Bfyne is taking it one step further with this new collection that heavily features Kente, a kind of Nwentoma cloth, spun with a technique that is similar to aso 0ke.

The new collection, arriving just in time for summer capitalizes on this trend, complete with high cut bottoms and multi-strap bikini tops, is just the alternative that is needed.

So buy Nigerian and Bfyne!
