What every mom is thinking on her daughter’s wedding day

mother and daughterHere comes…the mother of the bride! After you, she’s the second most important woman in the wedding, and the most important woman in her life (you) is getting married. She’s excited, nervous and her heart is so full of joy that words can’t really capture it. We’ll try though. Here are 6 thoughts that run through every mom’s mind on her daughter’s big day.

“I can’t believe my baby’s all grown up.” Surprise, surprise! Weddings are a major milestone for moms too. It seems like just yesterday she was watching you take your first steps and now she’s watching you walk down the aisle to your future husband. Needless to say, she couldn’t be prouder.

“I’ve been waiting for this day since the day she was born.” If you aren’t a mother yet, someday you’ll understand the feeling. Of all the hopes and dreams she has for your future (and trust us, there’s plenty of them!), finding someone that is as madly in love with you as she’s always been is every mom’s wish come true.

“Oh to be young and in love…” Whether she’s divorced or still happily married, every mom fondly remembers the rush of young love and the magic that filled the air on her own wedding day.

“I hope I look like a mother of the bride.” It may be your wedding, but naturally, mom wants to look her best too. After all, she’s either the host of the party and/or the guest of honor. She’d do anything in her power to ensure this day, including her hair, makeup and dress, are absolutely perfect for you.

“She’s the most beautiful bride I’ve ever seen.” Chances are, mom won’t hesitate to tell you this a time or two out loud, however, she’ll be thinking it to herself a million times more throughout the day. As she helps you into your dress, watches you walk down the aisle and recite your vows and dance for the first time with your new husband. You have a husband! She’s so incredibly enamored with the beautiful young lady you’ve become, both inside and out.

“Keep it together. Don’t cry. You can do it!” Then inevitably the emotion overwhelms her and she tears up. Like you, mom doesn’t want to be a blubbering mess on your big day. Unlike you, though, very rarely does she actually succeed in keeping it together the whole night. Aww.
