For Bunmi & Biola’s wedding we went to Okitipupa in Ondo State. It was one I surely enjoyed, not because of the usual turn up or fancy drinks, but because it brought back a flood of memories of holidays in our hometown when I was younger.
Memories of innocent little kids that would rather walk to church than go in a car cos it gave you the opportunity to say hello to the other kids in the area. A time when everyone knew everyone and there was no need for competition or envy.
Bunmi & Biola took me way back, to a good place, a peaceful place with no traffic and pollution in the air. It was such an easy day, Bunmi was so happy not even the morning rain could dampen her mood, all she wanted to do was get married to her Boo.
From the old Anglican church set up to the stellar village choir, and the old ladies dressed up identical – the true originators of Aso ebi, everything took me way back in the day, the good old days.
These too constantly amused us while we photographed them, stealing glances at each every now and then, holding hands while whispering to each other. All in all, this was the perfect pair, a blessing to one another.
