Trend alert ladies!

2015 evidently has witnessed amazing trends in the world of fashion with wide legs pants, Marsala shade, brogues, earthy hues………and the list goes on and on. In the Nigerian scene, bridal fashion has been incredibly experimental and regal. We’ve witnessed brides take on gothic inspired makeup themes, extravagant aso-ebi styles and over the top color combinations. We salute MUA’s for being outstanding in their contribution to bridal beauty, and also, stylists for their innovative creativity.

On this post we re-visit some of our favorite traditional wedding trends from January till present.

1) Statement Beads – There was a major deviation with accessories from last year’s broached beaded neck pieces to statement making ones in 2015. Beads makers put their creativity to the test this year with major statement neck pieces. A lot of these we can’t even believe were hand made.

2)  Beaded Head Tie (Gele) – Undoubtedly one of the biggest trends of 2015. Stylists and brides added an extra touch of glam to Aso Oke’s with either individually attached or string pearls, embellishments and beads.

3) Subtle Ombre Lips – Gone are the days of monotone lips. MUA’s channeled the 80’s trend with double and sometimes triple colored lips for bridal beauty. Fuller, sexier and more colorful pouts were created using the multi hues. Bold brides!

4) Yellow – The Bolder, the brighter! Brides were not so mellow in yellow this year with yellow Aso Oke’s and laces. The punchy shade took over the traditional wedding scene big time. Nothing little about these gorgeous Miss Sun shines!

5) Brown/Beige – Less is more they say! Careful though, there’s nothing boring about these brides. Simple, neutral style with a touch of elegance was brought to life with the earthy tone.
