Breakfast is the most important meal of the day and there is no second thought about that. You can say it certainly plays a role by giving you energy you need for the day and provides health benefits such as weight control and enhanced performance. Breakfast food differ from place to place, Hellofood.com.ng took a look at some typical breakfast choices from countries around the world. Whether it’s a cereal and bacon in America or Swedish pancakes in Sweden, each country does their first meal of the day slightly different.

Britain.

A traditional full English breakfast- includes baked beans, sausages, bacon, kippers, eggs either scrambled, fried or poached, mushrooms, hash browns and toast not forgetting, a lovely cup of tea or freshly squeezed orange juice. This is a popular breakfast that is served at breakfast time however is also common at other times of the day, generally replacing lunch. The term full comes from the fact the breakfast is, well, full of different food stuffs as you can from above.

The classic breakfast in America consists of hot energy foods; this means the foods are high in carbohydrates, vitamin and mineral. They have pancakes with maple syrup and bacon, hash browns, Ham & Eggs. If they want breakfast a lot simpler, Cereal and fruit juice have been part of the America breakfast for generations – although it is now changing.

The Swedish breakfast usually contains a Swedish pancake, which is called Pannkakor. It resembles the crepe, with its thin flat cake made from batter and fried on both sides and is often eaten with a sweet, fruity filling.

In Egypt they would generally eat ‘Foul Madamas’ for breakfast. It typically consists of lemon, garlic, fava beans, and chickpeas and is often topped with tahini sauce, hard boiled egg, some veggies, and little olive oil and cayenne pepper.

The standard Jamaican breakfast tends to be savoury and consist of a wide range of dishes, the most popular of which is ackee and salt fish: Jamaica’s national dish. Ackee is a fruit that, when cooked, has a flavour and consistency not unlike firm scrambled eggs. A Jamaican breakfast would not be complete if it doesn’t include a range of fried foods such as ripe plantains, breadfruit and Johnny cakes.

Pakistan -Aloo Paratha is a popular breakfast you would eat in Pakistan. Ultimately it’s unleavened bread that is filled with lots of vegetables and a spiced mixture of mashed potato. It’s usually served with chutney, butter, or something spicy.

For the Brazilians breakfast is not the most important or largest meal of the day. Brazilians are most likely to eat a lighter breakfast, as their lunch is normally significant. Coffee is a very important part of the Brazilian breakfast. Many Brazilians enjoy pingado (coffee), or warm milk, served in a glass. Skillet toasted French bread rolls (pão na chapa) is a favourite quick breakfast.

A Malaysian breakfast must surely go to the well-known Nasi Lemak. Nasi lemak is a Malaysian word and refers to the rich creamy rice that is cooked in coconut milk. Knotted screwpine leaves are often added in the cooking process to give it a beautiful fragrance.
