Even though I always swear by drug store beauty products as cheaper alternatives to the luxury brands, these are some beauty products that are totally worth the money we spend on them,
- Yves Saint Laurent Mascara Volume Effet Faux Cils.
I know, even the name sounds expensive and it is. It goes for about 32 dollars on Amazon which is about 9,600 Naira going by our current exchange rate. But it is totally worth it. One sweep (which is all we can afford to use per day sef) from its magic wand and your eyelashes will look like falsies.
- Urban Decay Naked3 Eyeshadow Palette
The palette is made up of 12 colors in the prettiest hues of pink and brown. It goes for about 15,000 Naira so anywhere you see it for 4 or 5 thousand you should know you are probably not buying Urban Decay. I trust the makeup from here, and even though they only have the Naked 2 right now, I’m sure they’ll be sure to stock up on the 3 soon. I used it without a primer, and it took me all day without creasing or smudging.
- Laura Mercier Silk Crème Oil Free Photo Edition Foundation.
This is about $48 here, which makes it about 14,400 Naira. I couldn’t find it in any of our local stores, but if you know any store which stocks it let us know. It is worth every kobo spent. The matte finish is unbelievable and it looks like you’ve already put on powder. It promises a 12 hour wear on the product’s site and I can testify to that, even without using a primer. And they come in a range of shades that guarantees you find the one that suits you.
- Nars Orgasm Blush.
So I am not a fan of blush in general, because I always look a little ridiculous in it. However this Nars blush is everything! It comes in a pretty pink shade that flatters every tone and goes on smoothly as it is easy to blend. It’s 8,500 Naira here, which is pretty steep for just blush.
- Mac fix plus spray.
Makeup setting sprays usually irritate me for some reason. So if you have sensitive skin like me, this Mac fix plus spray is the best for you. It also has a very refreshing feeling and makes your face look less “cakey” after powder/foundation. It’s about 6,600 Naira which is an amount I’ll usually not spend on just setting spray. You get it at the Mac store in Ikeja City Mall.
