Nollywood award-winning film producer, Kunle Afolayan will launch his new clothing line at Africa Fashion Week Nigeria 2018.
The clothing line is called Kunle’s Kembe and will highlight elements from his Yoruba roots.
Afolayan says:
“It is one of the things about our heritage that has captured the pop culture. The motive is trado-modern, and I am glad to be promoting it. This attire is one of the products that I intend to also use to promote Lagos. It is one of the souvenirs that tourists will have to take away from here subsequently. And I must add that all fabrics are locally sourced and so are the hands used in piecing them together. It is hundred percent Nigerian”.
The collection is already a favourite gaining a cult following among Nigerian celebrities. Richard Mofe-Damijo, Ali Baba, Desmond Elliot, Faithia Balogun, Singer Simi have all been sported wearing Kembe pants and it has a nice ring to it.
With a striking resemblance to the Harlem pants, Afolayan first strike at the fashion business will showcase a full collection this October. The pants are a nod to real traditional gear worn in Yoruba culture and its a nod to his heritage. “Kunle’s Kembe” is under the parent company- Ire Clothing.
