Denim will no longer be how you know it as new womenswear brand, BAYI is attempting to redesign the classic piece of clothing with embellishments that will see to it that the BAYI wearer stands out in a crowd of denim wearers.
Its debut collection themed GARBAGE comprises of ready-to-wear, hand-beaded, hand-stoned pieces that give a whole new meaning to DIY. The streetwear collection, GARBAGE prides on revamping wardrobe items that would otherwise be drowned out on the rack.
BAYI’s creative director, Utibe Ayi told The September Standard, “The Garbage collection was inspired out of the strong will to standout, everyone is making clothes, if I am delving into an industry that is already oversaturated, then I need to bring something unique to the table.”
BAYI may have achieved the goal of standing out but for how long will the brand appeal to streetwise fashionistas who are daily seeking out and latching on to new trends. Utibe explains that “BAYI is more than a street wear brand, it a movement, a new phase in Africa’s fashion Industry. Believe or not, this brand is here to create a difference”.
From accessories that cost as low as N3,000 to denim pants of N7,000, BAYI will certainly appeal to the urban stylish Lagos woman.
