Laolu Senbanjo made history recently when he was chosen by mega athleisure brand Nike as one of its Masters of Art for the annual Nike Air Max day.
The Air Max day marks an annual convention held across the world in celebration of the brand’s best selling Air Max sneaker style. The Air Max has become somewhat of a cultural emblem for the 80s and 90s and continues to draw fans to this day.
As part of his duties as a Master of Art for Nike, Senbanjo will create exclusive art for the brand, which will be featured on brand merchandise including (but not restricted) to t-shirts and sneakers.
Senbanjo via his Instagram recently released first images from the collaboration, revealing distinct art that references 80s culture including boom boxes and winged angels in sweatshirts.

The Masters of Art position is a year long pseudo residency that will give Senbanjo unprecedented exposure and allow his art reach a much wider audience. Already it is beginning to yield fruit.
He has recently picked up by international gym brand Equinox as an ambassador. We are not quite sure what this will entail but it can only bring good things.
Congratulations again Laolu.
