Bathrooms are one of my favorite rooms in a house, it’s where I find most relaxing. Just like my very own throne. Which is why, today’s post is about bathtubs.
One of the defining accessories of a bathroom is the classic tub.
Bathtubs have being around for as old as time. It’s been the most fancy accessory of the bathroom from the 18th century till date. It was invented in 1883 by an American man named John Michael Kohler of the Kohler Company.A bathtub, bath or tub (informal) is a large container for holding water in which a person may bath. Most modern bathtubs are made of acrylic or fiberglass, but alternatives are available in enamel on steel or cast iron; occasionally, waterproof finished wood. A bathtub is usually placed in a bathroom either as a stand-alone fixture or in conjunction with a shower.
There are different types of Tubs
- Clawfoot Tubs – The clawfoot tub or claw-foot tub was considered a luxury item in the late 19th century. Clawfoot tubs usually require more water than a standard bathtub, because generally they are larger. While true antique clawfoot tubs are still considered collectible items, new reproduction clawfoot tubs are chosen by remodellers and new home builders and much like the Western-style bathtubs, clawfoot tubs can also sometimes include shower head.
- Baby tub – Is one used for bathing newborns/infants, especially those not yet old enough to sit up on their own or as a device for supporting the baby that is placed in a standard bathtub .Its a bonding time for both mother/father and child. Many are designed to allow the baby to recline while keeping its head out of the water. These tubs come in different materials but most popular is the plastic cause its easy to wash and move around the bathroom space.
- Hot tubs – Are common heated pools used for relaxation and sometimes for therapy. A spa or hot tub is also called a “jacuzzi”, they are commonly designed for commercial use such as health spa center. When designed and built for residential homes – Its mostly an outdoor tub for more than 2 persons depending on the owner of the house. Its fantastic for family bonding.
- Whirlpool Tub also known as the Jacuzzi –Whirlpool tubs first became popular in America during the 1960s and 70s. Everyone knows it more as a jacuzzi tub but not as a whirlpool except of course you are into tubs like I said earlier. You can custom design your whirlpool to fit 2 persons for an indoor tub or get it build as an outdoor relaxation tub for family members and friends.
