Ghana First Major Fashion week for the year 2016 is over. Kumasi Fashion Week happens to be the first major Fashion week that has happened in the city of Kumasi, directing fashion enthusiasts to the Cultural Metropolis Kumasi. Kumasi Fashion Week has come a long way, metamorphosing from the Kwame Nkrumah University Of Science and Technology (KNUST’s) student fashion week. With support from the government of the province, and the support of private sponsors, the fashion week was able to make the quantum leap from student oriented showcase to a major fashion event.
The maiden edition of the Kumasi Fashion Week was held at the Golden Tulip Hotel Kumasi City from the 4th to the 7th March. The Fashion Week featured over 30 Runway Shows, exhibitions and private fashion parties. The showcase opened with elaborate fashion exhibitions in the morning and the arrival of most Fashion brands showing their collections on the runway that night. There was a grand opening by the Fashion week team which featured a cultural dance revue and broad introductions of the participating labels to the sponsors and each other.
The first Day runway shows saw designs by our Da Viva Next Generation Designers Participants : “Boabab” and “Stephanie Bruce Qlothing” and Da Viva Ambassadors “NipoSkin” who opened the First Day.
A special makeup show by Maybelline NY Ghana was dedicated to the Independence day of Ghana.
Other labels that Showed on the first day we’re “DCEE “, “Nicoline Gh”, “Ogazy Eccentrics” and “Hall of Peters”
The second day of the Fashion week saw a quick change in the location of the runway shows to the Poolside of Golden Tulip Hotel Kumasi City.
The Show was started with an interesting Hair extravaganza by Darling Hair
Then was the Da viva next generation Designers were on. We Saw designs by AHMA and Ntwitwaso for Da Viva.
Other Designers on the Night were “Eketino”, “Stitches by Gem”,”Marie ValHagan”,”Trotro Collections” from Ivory Coast,”Quophi Akotuah GH”,”Kweku Outluk” and “Nallem”.
Day 3, the final day for the Runway shows saw designs from “K4 klodin”, “Quophi Akotuah” all for Da Viva. And then collections from “Thorned by Maffy”, “Bushai Weave”, “Reotra Style” and “Trotro Collections” from Ivory Coast,” “NipoSkin”
