Temple Muse is listing the Nigerian models on the rise as Lagos Fashion Week comes to an end. They’ve been hailed as the Nigerian Supermodels.
Both Lagos Fashion Week and GTB Fashion Weekend- which kicked off soon after, have grown in strength from year to year and have successfully contributed to placing Lagos firmly on the map as the fashion capital of Africa.
We’ve managed to successfully carve out and claim our place on the fashion calendar – solidified by Conde Nast’s decision to send out Vogue journalists to capture and report on the yearly anticipated events. If Vogue is interested – the fashion world is listening! We’ve been hailed as the city to watch and our emerging designers as inspirational and forward thinking. The rise in media coverage and increased interest in our fashion events has further served as a platform to catapult our raw-talent models from the local catwalks on to an international stage guided by their supportive Mother agencies based in Lagos.
For the first time, Nigerian models are breaking barriers worldwide like never before – ten years ago Oluchi was the only name we heard commanding international runways. In 2018, there’s a list and the resume is impressive – from opening shows at Hermes SS/19 to Victoria Secret Model Castings, our girls are taking over.
