All roads led to the Civic centre on Ozumba Mbadiwe, Lagos on the 5th of November as multiple award winning musician Yemi Alade unveiled her debut collection in collaboration with Bland2Glam.com.ng. The event which also heralded the launch of the Get Mented! Mentorship initiative for Nigerian women was hosted by Beat FM’s Maria Okanrende. A host of influential personalities in entertainment, politics, business and lifestyle came out in their throngs to support the singer.
Seyi Banigbe, creative director for Bland2Glam.com.ng said, “We are extremely grateful for the support of Nigerian women towards the Yemi Alade Collection and the Get Mented! Initiative.” “There is nothing as lifting as seeing women supporting and helping other women up and cheering them on as they journey through life,” she added.
Yemi Alade in her vote of thanks recollected her earlier days as an upcoming act and how women like Omawumi would encourage her to improve on herself constantly. She further encouraged other women to do the same since lifting another woman up is the same as lifting a whole nation up.
Former senator Florence Ita Giwa who was a special guest at the event lauded Yemi Alade on the Get Mented! Initiative and pledged her support for her work. Lagos State commissioner for Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation Mrs Lola Akande who was represented congratulated Bland2Glam.com.ng on the launch and promised their support for the Get Mented! Initiative.
The different pieces in the collection were presented alongside inspirational messages by influential personalities such as Toke Makinwa who presented the Showstopper piece. Award winning actress, Kemi Lala Akindoju unveiled the #HOHA piece while comedienne Chioma ‘Chigul’ Omeruah presented the epic ‘Johnny’ piece with a lot of laughter from the audience. Online personality Tosin ‘Olorisupergal’ Ajibade presented the Afropolitan piece while dance queen Kaffy Ameh presented the ‘Tangerine’ piece.
Also in attendance were celebrities like Dolapo Ajibade, Osas Ajibade, Cynthia Morgan, Wana Sambo, Ozinna Anumudu, Denola Grey, Yvonne Ekwere, Beverly Osu, Denrele Edun, Zed Eye, Ifeanyi ‘IFAN’ Michaels, Tewa Onasanya, Sika Osei, Moet Abebe, Sharon Ojong and many more.
