A former Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria, Omowunmi Akinnifesi is easily one of Nigeria’s most stylish women, so it stands to reason that she would join the ranks of Oluchi Orlandi and Agbani Darego to delve into fashion full time. Her new label, Oma by Omowunmi has been teased for nearly a year, debuting select pieces at the 2015 Lagos Fashion and Design Week, followed by a teaser editorial released early January and then instagram photos of Toke Makinwa wearing select pieces.

Finally, the look book for the new collection has just been released, featuring Omowunmi herself flanked by a bevy of models including Uju Marshall. The entire collection is very elaborate and features exaggerated pleating and layering. Pretty cocktail dresses with square necklines, juxtaposed against luxurious layered wrap jackets with bow detailing in luscious red, gorgeous pleated high lo-skirts and cropped peplum blouses. But really what stands this collection out is the quality of the tailoring and fit of the cuts. We expect to see these pieces fill many wardrobes in the coming months and with a concessionary deal with retailer Zazaii in the bag, it is obvious that Akinnifesi is just as meticulous about her marketing as she is her design.
