Models Dot came into the collective consciousness of Nigerian fashion when in January they debuted their editorial with Ajak Deng and Maria Borges, featuring clothes from the then just concluded Lagos Fashion and Design Week.
The editorial paid homage to Malian photographer, Malick Sidibe and put several Nigerian design labels like Maki Oh, Re Lagos, IAMISIGO, Orange Culture and Kenneth Ize on the map in a way we hadn’t quite seen before.
Models Dot is in the spotlight again, this time for their amazing editorial with Alécia Morais, Cheyenne Carty, and Sahara Lin that draws inspiration from the iconic style of all black girl group TLC.
The editorial titled Crazy Sexy Cool, references TLC’s sophomore album. It was during the promotional era for this album that the girls developed the unique styles that have become synonymous with them to this day.
The editorial shows the models in hair, clothes and make up distinctive to the group. We love T-Boz’s asymmetric bob, Chilli’s baby hair and finger curls, and Lisa ‘Left Eye’ Lopez’s high octane make up and distinctive bangs in a background that is reminiscent of their post futuristic third album FAN MAIL.
And every single look is amazing.
