It is certainly a big night for the African-American community as one of its own has made history as the first black person to win an Emmy for directing a comedy show.
Donald Glover broke the glass ceiling when he received the Outstanding Directing for a Comedy Series award for directing Atlanta, a comedy-drama television series which he also produces and acts in.
Dang! We should have said from the start…
The 2017 Emmys will go down in history as the one which mostly embraces people of colour and this had been signaled with a nominees list that included almost 30 such people.
It wasn’t only Glover who made history from the pack. Lena Waithe also won an Emmy for Writing in a Comedy Series, Master of None, making her the first African-American woman to pick up a statuette in that category.
With these two historical feats in the bag, we thought to celebrate by bringing you all the looks sported by African-American stars on the Emmys red carpet.
