Time really flies.
Africa Fashion Week Nigeria, the sister showcase of Africa Fashion Week London is already in its third year. The second most relevant fashion showcase, after the Lagos Fashion and Design Week, with a more pan-African focus further plants roots in Nigeria’s burgeoning fashion industry.
Created by Nigeria’s own Ronke Ademiluyi, also the founder of Africa Fashion Week London, AFWN has served as an incubator for emerging talent in a way that the need for pedigree hasn’t allowed the country’s other fashion weeks truly embrace. Through it’s partnership with premium textile maker Da Viva to sponsor graduating fashion design majors of the Yaba College of Technology to show their first collections, labels like Osuare, Big Ben Kilani and J.Reason have all had their debut showcases at AFWN, a tradition we hope will continue into this year.
The organizers of AFWN have announced that this year’s showcase will happen in Lagos, Nigeria in July of 2016 (AFWN 2016). It is rumored that designers from AFWN might be given spots to show at Africa Fashion Week London, invaluable exposure for emerging labels.
The Lagos event is slated for the Eko Hotel from July 1st- 3rd 2016 while the London event is slated for Sept, 2016.
All we require from you is your participation as a designer, partner and sponsor.
