Lifestyle changes are a process that take time and require support. Once you’re ready to make a change, the difficult part is committing and following through.
Changes in lifestyle, not diet types, are the true ways to prevent weight gain and the associated ills.
Resulting to a lifestyle intervention and that in itself has three elements:
1. Dietary counseling (how to control portions, reduce high-calorie foods and navigate restaurants),
2. Exercise counseling (how to set goals, target heart rate and exercise safely), and
Behavioral modification (how to self-monitor, problem solve, stay motivated and understand hunger).
3. Making the changes that you want takes time and commitment, but you can do it. Just remember that no one is perfect. You will have occasional lapses. Be kind to yourself.
When you eat a brownie or skip the gym, don’t give up. Minor missed steps on the road to your goals are normal and okay. Resolve to recover and get back on track. I did it and got result, so can you.
