Each year on Genevieve Nnaji’s birthday, we count down the actress’s many professional and sartorial triumphs.
Genevieve Nnaji is the first Nollywood actress to be dressed by an internationally acclaimed fashion house (Dolce and Gabbana for their benefit dinner in 2011.) She has also been dressed by high profile home based labels like Elvira Jude, Lisa Folawiyo, Tiffany Amber and Deola Sagoe.
Then there is the unyielding influence she has held over the entertainment industry, changing our perceptions of what is possible and expected of an A-list actress. Ms Nnaji has stayed relevant and uncompromising with her style and image, a feat that would have been impossible without her long term relationship with stylist Veronica Odeka-Ebie.
A working relationship that has spanned almost a decade, Odeka and Nnaji have crafted this image of the Genevieve Nnaji that we know today. A good example of Nnaji before Odeka is the music video for her song ‘No More’ shot in 2006.
Of course, Nnaji was no slouch even then, but working with Odeka has had her consistently land on the best dressed lists at every major event she attends.
Odeka has also helped her navigate the drama fraught fashion industry and access labels that might have otherwise been off-limits to her. We still haven’t forgotten the debacle between TV presenter Idia Aisien and a Nigerian label.
Odeka has helped her keep her interactions with fashion labels cordial and ensured that both parties gett the prerequisite press that pairings like these are wont to give.
In celebration of nearly a decade of a perfect stylist pairing, here are five of our favorite Odeka style Genevieve Nnaji looks.
