Hey guys welcome back to The Strut. It’s been a busy week here with several editorials and quite a few announcements. Let’s give you the rundown.
Olamide Ogundele and Cynthia Abdullahi Are Oriental Princesses for Sevon Dejana.
Emerging label, Sevon Dejana, the pet project of stylist Edikan Dejana just released its lookbook for its Spring 2016 collection and has tapped model of the moment Olamide Ogundele to front the editorial campaign. The 24 look collection features heavily beaded dresses, flower motifs and exaggerated cutouts and also features Cynthia Abdullahi, reprising her role as face for the brand. Abdullahi fronted the brand’s first editorial for its debut Spring 15 collection, shot by emerging photographer Timmy Davies. We are ambivalent about the dresses but Abdullahi and Ogundele are delightful in it.
Kadara Enyeasi Shoots Editorial for JZO and Stranger Lagos.
Enyeasi normally known for his experimental art photography is delving full-time into fashion. He started last year with editorials for Tokyo James, The Style HQ and Made Magazine and now he is starting the new year with editorials for JZO’s Harmattan 2016 collection and images for the new Stranger Lagos Website. Enyeasi’s art background makes his images visually interesting and we wonder what’d he create with the right kind of platform.
Kelechi Amadi Obi might be curating our exhibition at the 2016 International fashion showcase.
The 2016 British Council International Fashion Showcase is less than a month away and Team Nigeria is already in high gear. With the team sorted (Onalaja, Sisiano, Ejiro Amos Tafiri and others) and the collections decided on, the big question now, is who is going to curate our entry into the international exhibition. We don’t know for sure, but we spotted Kelechi Amadi Obi shooting with the finalists. Given that he was a pivotal part of this year’s Fashion Focus Programme, it’s not too much of a stretch to assume he might serve as curator. What this will mean, we’ll find out soon enough.
Mel Devidal and Ademide Adepetun just got signed to Few Models.
Few Models has been going on a signing spree. First off, it is filling up its main board with more experienced models. The brand announced via it’s Instagram that Melissa Devidal has come under it’s representation. This is great news considering Devidal has already shot three high profile editorials and January isn’t even over yet. Few also signed Ademide Adepetun, who is probably best known from his shoots with his elder brother, men’s style enthusiast Denola Grey. It’ll be interesting to see him come into his own, as part of the vanguard of the Few Models Teen division.
