The Strut: Nigerian men (and Olamide) take over SA for Fashion Week

A lot has happened in the last week, SA Mens, new models signed, and who can forget the story of Olajumoke? These are The Strut’s must buzz worthy news.

Manni Kwen, Seun Logan and Toyin Oyeneye Serve Face At SA Mens Fashion Week.

South Africa Menswear Week just ended on the 7th of February 2016 and Nigerian boys were making us proud on and off the runway. Four Nigerian designers; Orange Culture, Maxivive, Tokyo James and Kola Kuddus, all with wildly different aesthetics were invited to show. It was a delight to see Kwen Akomaye, Toyin Oyeneye and Seun Logan, all profiled in our list of fashion names to watch out for in 2016 front and centre on the runways. Here are some of our favourite looks.

Olamide Ogundele Signs with Boss Models S.A.

Following in the footsteps of Opeyemi Awoyemi, Kwen Akomaye and Toyin Oyeneye, fashion break out Olamide Ogundele was at the SA menswear Week, but no she wasn’t there to model, she was there to sign her first international fashion contract with South African fashion agency Boss Models. She is Few Models’s first female model to get an international contract. Congratulations to her, we hope for big things.

Okhai Aigbe is hosting illustration classes.

Okhai Aigbe, the person behind the Leankid social media account responsible for blessing us with amazing fashion illustrations is looking to share the tricks he’s learnt along the way. Partnering with the good folks over at Martwayne, a fashion illustration and design school, Okhai will join a team of teachers to train the next generation of illustrators and designers in modern illustration and design techniques. Sounds like a lot of fun.
