Ejiro Amos Tafiri is the perfect example of the new Nigerian designer; homegrown, self financed, talented and continually finding the much needed balance between high fashion and accessibility. With a flag ship store in Ikoyi and a second one in Ikeja and an impressive client base, Amos Tafiri continues to impress and inspire. Which is why the good folks over at Pulse TV, finally got her to sit and chat with them about her journey to become a respected Nigerian designer and her choice to pursue fashion.
We find out that her parents actually wanted her to study medicine and become a doctor (like most Nigerian parents tend to do) and how she’d always had an interest in fashion and experimenting with the craft. Its refreshing to hear a designer articulate her personal journey with such ease and honesty and it just reiterates how much we love her.
She’s amazing.
