Twenty Six debuts new collaborations with Lookbook 4

Twenty Six, one of our favourite ready to wear labels over at The Other Style has just released Lookbook 4, the fourth in it’s series of collections made around the label’s basic idea. Twenty Six is a niche brand in ways that many other Nigerian labels aren’t; it primarily concerns itself with ready to wear mass market pieces based around a simple idea, creating the perfect circle skirt.

In the years since Twenty Six has been in business, it has expanded it’s products to meet demand, adding a line of co-ords, dresses, accessories and now a children’s line. Lookbook 4 sees the label intermarry it’s brand philosophy with an appreciation for Nigeria’s history. As Desola explains it…

We at TwentySix are inspired by our vast history and so when we had the opportunity to shoot our newest lookbook at a treasure trove of this history, we grabbed it up as fast as we could. Our prints have characters: sassy, bold, swanky, quirky – and so we wanted our location to be one that held as much character as our prints. We found it in The Jaekel House Museum in the Nigerian Railway Corporation Compound.

The Jaekel House Museum is a restored classic colonial mansion, located within the grounds of the Nigerian Railway Corporaton, Ebute-Metta, Lagos. Jaekel House was named after late Francis Jaekel, a former superintendent of the Corporation, who retired in the seventies after almost thirty years of service and later wrote a three –volume history of the  Nigerian railways, which was published in 1998. It is now a mini Museum and photo exhibition celebrating the prime of the Nigerian Railway Corporation during colonial times.

Partnering with Legacy, (the historical, environmental and heritage interest group who did the restoration,) Twenty Six hopes to introduce their buying audience to the beauty of the Jaekel house while also directing them to the new prints and styles being introduced with this collection.

The brand also works with life style brand AtelierNOYAKA to create limited edition prints and styles. This is TwentySix’s second collaboration with the brand and from the prints we see (a Grecian style mural print and vibrant flapper motifs that remind of the 1920’s,) the new collection will be a great addition to any wardrobe.
