2015 and 2016 have been amazing years for Nigerian models. Our exports have dominated every runway in the world, both male and female and our young bright stars have landed on fresh face and best model lists on the almighty Vogue.
The new wave of international signings that began with Nneoma Anosike has since continued with Kwen Akomaye, Toyin Oyeneye, Queen Onyemaechi, Victor Ndigwe, Mayowa Nicholas and Olamide Ogundele.
Now we get to add two more names to that prestigious list. Elohor Aisien’s Beth Models Africa just announced through its official Instagram profile that two of its models Nora Omerie and Funmi Akinjiola, both alumni of the Elite Model Look competition (Funmi won the 2015 competition) have gotten signed to international agencies.
Nora Omerie got signed to Ice Models Capetown, the agency that Oyeneye is signed to and Akinjiola has been signed by Fusion models South Africa.
Nora has more than paid her dues, fronting the Maki Oh Spring 16 campaign that made it’s way onto Vogue. And I guess this validates Beth Model Africa and Elite Model Look Nigeria’s decision to give the crown to Funmi Akinjiola as she had a terribly boring walk and completely forgettable outing at the 2015 Lagos Fashion and Design Week. Hopefully Fusion gears her towards editorial work where her strong features will come to bear.
Congratulations girls, make us proud!
