British Nigerian designer Duro Olowu debuted his latest collection at the 2016 London Fashion Week. Known as the King Of Prints, the Nigerian designer whose work has been worn by Michelle Obama, is unafraid to experiment with what others would call ‘ugly’ prints, combining them in tasteful ways to create unique looks. He continues his signature technique of mismatched vibrant prints in complementary hues, as well has his extravagant silhouettes and daring cuts.
This new collection sees him play with bold colours as offsets for his prints, he also incorporates a layer of pleating to his pieces, playing up their playfulness and aiming his clothes this season at a younger, more adventurous crowd. One that favours floor length coats, clown collars, floral hues that come to life against a black back drop and animal print accessories in ankle boots and zebra print tights. The undisputed king of prints is still very much atop his throne.
