New York City based accessories brand, Fanm Djanm (that means strong woman) has spent the last few years promoting the beauty of afrocentric hairstyles through gorgeous African inspired print headwraps. The brand just released images for it’s summer 16 cache of headwraps and accessories and they are breathtakingly beautiful.
The brand went all the way to the island state of Puerto Rico with three gorgeous black models and got to shooting, showing the headwraps in a variety of formal, semi formal and casual scenarios. We love that the editorial shows the versatility of the brand’s accessories and celebrates women of colour in the process, normalizing headwraps that have been considered as ‘other’ since the colonial days.
Not content to just create gorgeous accessories for us, the people over at Fanm Djanm have extensive headwrap tutorials to teach you how to properly wear their headwraps. There are several tutorials so you don’t have to have a history of wearing headwraps to get your first one. It helps that the site is gorgeous and minimalist but still vibrant and they have gorgeous images.
