Ubi Franklin, CEO Of the Triple MG music group, home to sex symbol Iyanya and hitmaker Tekno is quite the fashionisto. His wardrobe has been an important source of inspiration for us here at the Other Style. In honour of his belated birthday (he was born on the 2nd of February) we’re sharing our list of favorite Ubi Franklin looks.
THE ULTIMATE MARRIED MAN
Ubi Franklin’s wedding to actress and event planner Lilian Esoro was one of the most talked about events of 2015 and one of the high points of the wedding was their traditional dress. Two fashion stars coming together to make one power couple, who wouldn’t be awe of that? Franklin truly represented his Efik roots, donning the full attire and looking extra dashing in it. A man who can make a wrapper look modern is definitely a style star in our books.
DASHING IN TRAD
Ubi Franklin is definitely a more traditional man, favoring culturally inspired menswear over more modern iterations, but he is always at his most suave when he dons an agbada, like he did for what is already in contention to be 2016’s wedding of the year, the traditional union of Tolu Oniru and Tunde Demuren. With Lilian Franklin at his side as the perfect companion, Ubi shows us why white never goes out of style.
LIGHT BUT FORMAL
Only a truly fashionable man can take a washed out suit and make it work, and Ubi does this over and over. He is particularly partial to Pastel coloured suits, playing in the washed out sorbets and almost whites. But here, sporting down an emerald suit, with a collarless dress shirt and collar pins, Franklin is the risk taker that we admire.
SUPER CASUAL
It is really easy to dress up, pile on the clothes and jewellery to make yourself look better. But every stylish person knows it’s incredibly hard to dress down. This is where Ubi really shines, he has enough presence to make even the simplest things looks incredibly well thought out, like here where he makes a dress shirt and pair of jeans look like he’s on a trip to the white house.
STREET STYLE
We all seem to forget but as a music CEO, Ubi Franklin has to rep the streets every now and then. When he sheds the tailored kaftans and dress shirts for streetwear, he does it so well, he can easily pass for a street sartorialist off one of the international runways.
Just. Look. At. This. Awesomeness.
Happy belated Ubi Franklin, continue to inspire us for years to come.
