If you haven’t heard of Frankie and Co, the in-house label of mega fashion retail brand Grey Velvet, then I don’t know what to tell you. Created to provide a fashionable, well tailored alternative to the retailers premium and luxury brands, Frankie and Co has slowly made itself into a quiet but reputable force the in fast fashion market alongside brands like DOS Clothing and Maju.
But this is the label’s first proper collection, and it’s first proper campaign. The other Frankie and Co campaigns have been done in tandem with Grey Velvet’s in-house seasonal editorials. The ‘Blu’ campaign and collection is a pivotal shift for the label, think of it as the label finally choosing an identity for itself and a demographic that it wants to dress. It is also great to see veteran model Makida Moka front this campaign and ace-menswear designer Adebayo Oke-Lawal go back to his roots in styling.
Blu finally defines Frankie and Co as a young brand, full of staple separates, trend heavy but classic in silhouette with pretty darn good construction work. The off-shoulder romper and the shift dress with exposed sleeves and a keyhole closure on the bust line were some of our favorites as was the pink co-ord set and the aso-oke short shorts. Prints, neutrals and young flirty, silhouettes and youthfulness.
We want all of it.
