April has been a particularly trying month, what with the fuel scarcity and the near incessant power and forex issues. It almost feels like we need a miracle. Well, thanks to the alt lifestyle store, Stranger Lagos, we’re about to get one. For the month of April, Stranger is organizing not one, but two pop up shops for some of your favourite designers.
Minku Pop-Up Store
The Spain-based, Nigerian designer and founder of Minku Leather Goods, Kunmi Otitoju will be hosting a one day pop-up while she’s in Lagos. The pop-up will feature some new pieces from her leather bags collection, notebooks made of striated leather back & banana leaf pages, and bracelets made up of beads collected during her many travels. Minku’s bags have an eclectic feel, as all of them are handmade and are a proper collector’s delight.
Also the Minku striated notebooks actually reference Nigeria’s history and are a great alternative to the extremely popular Field Notes notebooks (if you prefer those ones, Stranger stocks them too).
The date is Saturday the 9th of April 2016 and the Pop-Up will last all day, starting from 1pm all the way down to 10pm. Otitoju will be in the store, so this would be a great opportunity to meet her in person, and get that important fan selfie.
Venue: Stranger, 3 Hakeem Dickson, off Fola Osibo, Lekki Phase 1.
The Maxivive Pop-Up
Just fresh off being invited to show at the South African Menswear Week in Johannesburg in February, Babatunde Oyeyemi’s Maxivive is finally getting the international recognition it needs, and trust on this, this is the perfect time to buy into the brand. Maxivive will be holding a pop-up sale at Stranger this weekend. Happening simultaneously with the Minku Pop-Up store, Oyeyemi will offer pieces from his Arodan collection (shown at the 2015 Lagos Fashion and Design Week) for sale to the general public. The designer will also be taking orders for pieces from his new Pre-Harmattan 16 collection.
Sounds like loads of retail therapy. The Pop-Up sale starts at 2pm on the 9th of April at Stranger Lagos.
