If there’s anything we need more of, it is a designer’s perspective on their life and work, the aesthetic of their brand and their career path so far. We need this especially from emerging designers, especially menswear designers who are already categorised as ‘fringe’. Deji Eniola is part of a new vanguard of menswear designers that include Kimono Collection, Taryor Gabriels and Jason Porsche who have made their niche in bespoke menswear, occasionally branching out to ready to wear collection.
Deji Eniola finally had its big ticket debut as part of the Lagos Fashion and Design Week Fashion Focus programme, introducing his own brand of bespoke menswear. It was quickly followed by profiles in Naatal Media and the British Council and introducing the label to Lagos’s fashion elite.
Eniola sat with Dipo of Pulse TV to talk about his collections, the trajectory of his brand, the kind of man that Deji Eniola seeks to dress and the entire manufacturing and production process.
It is interesting to hear him talk about his brand and stress on the fact that he is more of a creative director than a bespoke tailor (like Mai Atafo). Eniola also speaks on his inspiration for the brand and his dabbling into bridal menswear. To find out more, watch here.
