We’re always on the look out for afrocentric brands, especially in niche markets like swimwear and lingerie and LLULO ticks both boxes. An independent lifestyle brand (much like Caven Etomi and Shop Maju), LLULO is a collective of young talented people making swim and street wear with a definite African bent.
LLULO has a shirt, ankara and a swimwear line, all three dedicated to promoting African culture by drawing inspiration from our vast history in fabric and print making and our many cultural references. They’re particularly interested in finding new ways to make African wax Prints more commonly known as Ankara more accessible to young millenials at home and in the disapora seeking to connect with Africa through clothing.
Seeing the success brands like Andrea Iyamah and Kamokini have had from engaging fashion, we cannot wait to see what LLULO does as it gains attention and prominence. For now though, we’re gushing about their new line of swimwear. Made from water friendly materials with ankara prints, they are the perfect mix of cute and functional.

THE BIOLA ONE PIECE
The Biola one piece comes in small to extra large and is supercute for women seeking to accentuate their arms and legs and upper torso. Total snatch.
THE ARABIRIN ONE PIECE
The mask head print of the Arabirin one piece is so gorgeous our hearts can’t take it. It is especially cute because it reminds us of vintage wax print wrappers.
THE JABULA SWIM SET
Rounding it out is their jabula swim set, which has a cute check print off shoulder blouse and high waisted pant, perfect for that swim when you’re on your period. Pretty nifty too.
